![]() Through an audition process last school year, Mira Mesa was selected by World Projects as one of the five schools that will perform at the festival. The festival is presented by World Projects, an organization that produces several music festivals and performance tours around the globe. Each group that performs in the festival will receive a gold, silver or bronze award based on performance level by an adjudication panel. Mira Mesa’s advanced orchestra and band groups, the symphony orchestra and wind ensemble, will perform on April 16 in the New York International Music Festival at Carnegie Hall. The famous punchline to the joke, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” is “Practice, practice practice” - and that’s exactly what the student musicians at Mira Mesa High School are doing to prepare for their upcoming performance at the world-famous music venue. SI really does care for the whole person and I am so glad that I chose to go here!. Even though SI is a Jesuit school, it is open to all religions and spiritualities. In addition, you have room in your schedule to pursue your own passions as well, from computer science to jazz band, to yearbook! There is a wonderful Community Service program with a life-changing Immersion experience as well as Campus Ministry both with Frosh and Soph retreats and senior Kairos! Saint Ignatius’s Jesuit values inspire students to lead lives of generosity, called to service, to leadership and love. The academics are also modern and prepare you for college, relating the classroom material to the rest of your life. ![]() SI has great school spirit and the teachers want you to succeed. Senior: SI is such a fun school! There is always something to do after school whether that be clubs, sports, arts, or other extracurricular and you are strongly encouraged to participate in the student life and attend the many fun events. I'm so happy I'll be moving back! I want to go back to Dehesa asap!. Our dinosaur actor brought in this huge inflatable dino suit! Remembering my role as the sheep and being pulled back and forth warms my heart. ![]() I remember theatre play for "Bedtime Stories (As told by our dad who messed them up)". I've been seeing some negatives for charter schools in the news, and I think they're totally wrong! One of my teachers told me "You'll never know unless you try", so how do the reporters know that charter school is that bad? It's actually better than most in my opinion. And yet, I'm going into ninth grade and I still haven't seen another coding class in the schools I've gone to! I love Dehesa. It's a very unique place! There are coding classes, which is where I first started to code! A coding class is something I've never seen before. Thinking back on how much trouble I caused, I feel pretty guilty. Even if you're a newcomer you'd still be very much accepted. Personally, a club I have been a part of has been Chess, Tea Club, Gardening Club, Crotchet Club, Mecha, and Mesa. Furthermore, even though the high school is small it still brings more people closer together through its classes, clubs, and sports. For example, they provide the school with kayaking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, and so much more. Not only that but we also have been provided with a program known as Outdoor Outreach where we get funded to be able to attend this program where they take make it an option whether or not to attend one of their outings for free. The high school brings lots of resources to the attention of students so that we get to have more opportunities. Senior: I like the O'farrell Charcte School because of the resources it provided such as AVID and career development where they have brought genuine graduates and people who have experience within their careers to give us advice.
